| Pear Storage Refrigerated Warehouse
Pears are fruits that have the ability to continue respiration even after harvest. After peeling, they rapidly release ethylene gas, initiating the unstoppable aging process. Only refrigeration can halt, or even temporarily delay, this aging process.
Pears, with their physiological similarities to apples, are structurally more suited to refrigeration than other fruits. As long as quality conditions are met, the best way to preserve pears is controlled atmosphere refrigeration, where oxygen is kept to a minimum and carbon dioxide, humidity, and ethylene are controlled. Pears are stored at temperatures ranging from -0.5 to 2.50˚C, appropriate for the variety. This temperature range varies depending on the pear variety, harvest location, and climate.
However, as with all foods, experience is paramount in the storage of pears. This has proven to be very effective in controlled atmosphere systems for both apples and pears.
The application of 1-MCP in a controlled atmosphere system has also been shown to be effective in extending shelf life. In addition to long-term storage in these advanced warehouses, the extended shelf life also offers significant benefits to investors, making these systems a highly attractive investment.
Pears are a rare fruit with high market value, often fetching high prices when they are difficult to obtain. Therefore, they must be stored in optimal condition to prevent waste.
